In 2005, 18- year-old Kenneth Nixon and his sweetheart were apprehended and charged with murder, arson, and 4 counts of tried murder in combination with an awful Detroit firebombing that eliminated 2 kids. While Kenneth’s sweetheart was acquitted by a jury, he was sentenced to 2 life sentences.
A collective evaluation by the Medill Justice Project, Cooley Law Innocence Project, and Wayne County Conviction Integrity Unit would eventually figure out Kenneth didn’t get a reasonable trial, pointing out irregular eyewitness testament, opportunistic jailhouse informant statement, and bad arson examination. On February 18 th, 2021, Nixon was launched from jail, 16 years after his conviction.
In this sensational installation of Open Mike, Kenneth assesses the systemic predispositions that added to his wrongful conviction and offers updates about his post-release life– consisting of motivating advocacy deal with the National Organization of Exonerees.
