Interview with GA Gov. Nathan Deal re. Criminal Justice Reform

featured image

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has made criminal justice reform a priority, first speaking of it in his State of the State Address in 2010. As his time as governor draws to a close, Gov. Deal shared his views on the practical and humanitarian reasons for his support for reform, beginning with his belief in diverting non-violent offenders from the prison system and supporting community-based programs for juvenile offenders. His interview with AIB producer Audrey Galex is part of the AIB Network’s 2018 initiative to raise awareness of the challenges faced by ex-offenders who return to society after incarceration, and the programs that help them find jobs, housing and other resources to reduce recidivism. The initiative includes four Public Service Announcements that are available for download at https://aibtv.com/psa2/ as well as other programs throughout the year.
