The increasing variety of people with psychological health and compound usage conditions in the criminal justice system has huge financial, health, and human expenses. Diverting people with psychological health and compound usage conditions far from prisons and jails and towards better and culturally qualified community-based psychological healthcare is an important part of nationwide, state, and regional methods to offer individuals the assistances they require and to get rid of unneeded participation in the juvenile and criminal justice systems.
In order to lower participation, support those who require services, and promote fairness throughout the criminal justice system, leaders in the psychological health system, police officers, public protectors, district attorneys, court workers, supporters, lawmakers, and others in the criminal justice system need to come together to produce a system that will enhance results for all.
