A group of previously jailed people in Kentucky, a state with among the most punitive legal systems in the nation, is rallying to see criminal justice reform in America’s damaged system.

In Kentucky and lots of other parts of the U.S., individuals who slip up at the age of 18 are branded as “wrongdoers” for the rest of their lives. Without the chance for a 2nd possibility, these people are losing the capability to actualize their capacity.

Kentucky’s recidivism rate is 41% in the very first 2 years after being launched. To turn the tide and see criminal justice reform in their state, the Smart Justice Supporters collaborate to prepare offers, meet legislators, and supporter for the formerly jailed.

With their special backgrounds and experiences, the Smart Justice Supporters want to offer previous prisoners a 2nd possibility at success, and a collaboration with the Chan Zuckerberg Effort is now assisting them make an even higher effect.
