” What we view as those states [like Michigan] are continuing to broaden the programs and laws on reform … we’re not seeing criminal offense rates surge … we’re in fact seeing criminal activity decrease,” Agent Evan Goyke (D-Milwaukee) stated throughout a Civil Dialogue conversation on criminal justice reform. WisconsinEye hosted a Civil Discussion to deal with the “Tougher on Criminal offense” expenses that were just recently passed in the Assembly. “There are individuals who should not remain in prison,” Agent Joe Sanfelippo (R-New Berlin), Assembly lead on the legal plan, stated. “If they have dependency issues or non-serious criminal offenses, provide a 2nd opportunity … however the issue is available in is that our criminal justice system in their passion to lower jail population and minimize prison population is dealing with everyone the very same.”
