Lawbreaker Justice in a Pandemic: The Courts

featured image

In these 2 public webinars from the Professors of Law at the University of Cambridge, the panels check out the massive extra pressures that the pandemic has actually troubled the criminal justice system.

In the very first occasion, our focus is the courts and we check out the truth of every day life in magistrates’ courts and in the Crown Court, from bail applications to sentencing. What has taken place to the right to trial by jury? What will be the effect of the pandemic on the rights of accuseds and victims, both in the brief and the long term? What are the lessons to be gained from video-justice? Could HMCTS and the judiciary have been much better prepared?

Going over the concerns:

Chair: Nicky Padfield, Teacher of Lawbreaker and Penal Justice

Nicky is signed up with by a panel of specialists:

– Amanda Pinto Q.C. (Chair of The Bar Council);-LRB- .- Simon Davis (President of The Law Society);-LRB- .- Ian Kelcey (Lawbreaker Lawyer Supporter); and
– Abimbola Johnson (Bad Guy Lawyer).
