In this 2nd webinar we take a look at the existing conditions in English jails and check out why more has actually not been provided for those in custody throughout the pandemic.
At the start of April, the federal government revealed prepare for the early release of approximately 4,000 detainees in England and Wales, to decrease jail overcrowding and to slow the rate of infection amongst detainees and personnel. The Jail Governors Association and Public Health England argued that launching 10,000 – 15,000 detainees was required. By late April, however, a simple 33 detainees had actually been launched.
